Bangarra community events in Sydney
During the Sydney season of Blak, Bangarra Dance Theatre will host a series of events to inspire and engage with up to 500 people of Sydney’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A Community Night performance of Blak will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 8 p.m. with accessible tickets made available.
Erica Sobol’s ‘Wallow’ on tour
The choreographic talents of Erica Sobol have hit Australian shores with high anticipation for her upcoming production tour of Wallow (then run, gypsy, run!). This is the final showcase of the collidEdance intensive and it will come to Sydney this weekend and Melbourne next week.
Tracks Dance Company presents 'Future Age'
Tracks Dance Company is a recognised Northern Territory dance company and centre of excellence focused on developing a solely Australian dance idiom. In an upcoming performance titled Future Age, the company celebrates 25 years of the Grey Panthers, Darwin's senior women's dance troupe.
The Dancers Company on the road again
The Dancers Company, the regional touring arm of The Australian Ballet, is on the road again in 2013, travelling far and wide to perform a dazzling triple bill of ballet gems in rural Australia. During July and August the company will bring a program of mesmerising ballet to New South Wales, the Northern Territory, South Australia and Victoria.
Must-see dance film by Teddy Forance
Now available for download and DVD purchase, Movement One is a dance documentary that follows producer/composer Jon Arpino and Emmy-nominated choreographer Teddy Forance. In just eight days, 20 dancers collaborated to choreograph and perform a 30-minute dance production set to an original score. Movement One features well-known dancers such as Teddy Forance, Twitch, Jaimie Goodwin, Allison Holker, Kathryn McCormick and Michael Keefe.
Tickets on sale for Australian Dance Awards
This year, Canberra will host the Australian Dance Awards for the very first time as part of the Centenary of Canberra. With performances from leading companies, presentations and eleven Awards, the event will bring together various dance enthusiasts to celebrate the best in Australian dance.
Ausdance offering choreographic fellowship
Ausdance is now inviting applications for the second Ausdance Peggy van Praagh Choreographic Fellowship. Applicants must be choreographers who are 35 years or older that can demonstrate the value of the fellowship to their own choreographic career. Deadline to apply is June 10.
Sydney Dance Company's International Tour
Currently wowing Central Australian audiences with their acclaimed production of Rafael Bonachela's 2 One Another, Sydney Dance Company has announced they will soon be taking the show on an extensive overseas tour, performing 13 shows in six countries across three continents in September and October this year.
