Ausdance presents Victorian Dance Awards

Ausdance Victoria presents the 2014 Victorian Dance AwardsAusdance Victoria will present the 2014 Victorian Dance Awards (VDA) on Tuesday, December 2 at 7 p.m. at Acqua e Vino, located at 18a Ballarat Street, Yarraville.

“It gives me great pleasure to invite you to come and celebrate the wonderful and inspiring Victorian dance industry,” stated Andy Howitt, the director and CEO of Ausdance Victoria.

Voting opened for the Awards on Monday, October 20 and closed on Monday, November 3. The full weight of support was shown with an outpouring of over 4,000 votes.

What makes VDA unique is that the winners are 100% chosen by the public and dance community. Ausdance gives the public the opportunity to look at all areas of the dance industry, from lighting and costuming to photography and production. It’s a chance to really explore what makes dance great, while also celebrating not just an individual dancer, but every aspect that goes into the final product and into the sector.

Ausdance Victoria aims to activate both the dance industry and general public to discuss the outstanding achievements in Victorian dance across all styles.

Now the time has come to recognise the hard work and dedication that make up the vast landscape that is the Victorian dance community.

Award categories include Victoria’s Favourite: Dance Videographer, Dance Video Clip, Dance Studio Teacher, Service to Dance, Dance Producer, Male Dancer, Dance Production, Lighting Designer, Female Dancer, Dance Photographer, Dance Event, Costume Designer, Choreographer and Dance Publication.
