Enrol now for a WAAPA Masterclass

Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts Music Theatre Audition Masterclass Tour 2015Once again, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) will present a Music Theatre Audition Masterclass in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth this year. This masterclass will help demystify what can be a daunting process – the musical audition. Run by WAAPA’s Coordinator of Music Theatre, David King, and Resident Director, Crispin Taylor, this masterclass will give dancers techniques to deal with the most challenging musical audition.

The three-hour session includes mock auditions for singing, acting and dance, and prepares auditionees for all challenges, from cattle-calls to callbacks. It is suitable for professional and amateur performers, teachers and prospective WAAPA students.

The masterclass will be offered in Melbourne on Thursday, July 2, in Sydney on Friday, July 3,
in Brisbane on Sunday, July 5, and in
Perth on Saturday, September 12. Each session will cost $180 and start at 10 a.m. and go to 1 p.m.

In addition to the Music Theatre Audition Masterclasses, WAAPA is offering the Music Theatre Mid-Year Workshop, which is aimed at young teenagers. This one-week workshop run by WAAPA’s Music Theatre staff concentrates on improving student skills in ensemble singing, song and dance, jazz, acting and improvisation techniques. The course culminates with a performance in front of family and friends. Participants must be at least 14 years old. The workshop is set for Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It costs $775 total.
