Norwegian Cruise Line’s Feb. 2016 Auditions

Norwegian Creative Studios, the entertainment division of Norwegian Cruise Line, is returning to Australia in search of: 1) Male Dancers and 2) Lead Characters for its production of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert. The auditions will be held in Sydney and Melbourne this February.

Firstly, the Male Dancer Auditions are set for February 26 at Sydney’s Brent Street and March 1 at Melbourne’s Patrick Studios. Both start at 10 am, with sign-in at 9:30 am. Dancers who apply should have strong technique and experience in multiple dance styles. Auditionees will learn a variety of combinations and may be asked to tap. They should have a strong physique and be able to perform onstage shirtless when required. Any gymnastics, aerial training, tumbling and partnering skills are a plus. Dancers should bring a picture and resume stapled together, as well as jazz shoes/character heels and tap shoes if they have them.

Norwegian Creative Studios has enjoyed great success in finding talent with their Australian Auditions Tour. Production Casting Director Kai Alan Carrier says, “Australia is currently producing the most well-rounded dancers we see in the industry. They have outstanding technique and are well versed in all styles of dance, including tap, which is hard to find.”

If selected at the open call auditions, male dancers may be assigned to perform in various at-sea productions. Norwegian Cruise Line currently runs Broadway shows like After Midnight, Million Dollar Quartet, Legally Blonde and Vegas The Show.

Another Broadway show it runs is Priscilla Queen Of The Desert. Auditions for this production are set for February 25 at Sydney Dance Company Studios in Walsh Bay and February 29 at Melbourne’s Patrick Studios. These auditions are by appointment only. According to the Manager of Theatrical Operations, Australia is the “sole target in casting lead roles for Priscilla Queen Of The Desert.” He added, “There is a deep pool of talented performers in Australia who give the show a degree of authenticity, humor and style. We are seeking that same type of performer for the other Broadway shows in our fleet as well.”
