Robust season ahead for VIC State Ballet

Swan Lake ballet by Victorian State BalletLed by Artistic Directors Martin and Michelle Sierra, the Victorian State Ballet has now announced its 2017 Season, which is “all about being inspired.” Programming will feature classical ballets like The Magic Toy Box, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Snow White, Nutcracker and Le Corsaire, plus neo-classical and contemporary ballets like Gabriel, Tango, Concerto and Giselle 2.

In their announcement, the Sierras wrote, “Ballet is a powerful way to experience the magic that inspires greatness in us all…These timeless stories that overcome obstacles, test endurance, commitment and pursuit of what we believe in and hold dear take the stage for us in 2017. They remind us that all things are possible!”

Victorian State BalletFirst established in 2003, the Victorian State Ballet organisation includes the VSB Company and the VSB Pre-Professional Program.

The company, which recently held auditions in September, features about 16 dancers, including two female principals and two male principals.

“So let’s all journey together as we dream big as Cinderella dared to dream of a wonderful future… love as Kitri and Basilio showed the power of love conquers… sacrifice for something great as Odette and Prince Siegfried sacrificed for each other… and imagine wonderful adventures as Clara dreamed and ventured in wonderful lands!” wrote the Sierras. “In 2017, be inspired by the magic of ballet!”
