‘Sleeping Beauty’ panto coming Winter 2018

Bonnie Lythgoe Productions AustraliaBonnie Lythgoe Productions, the creative force behind The Adventures of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell earlier this year, has announced its latest fairy tale classic. In 2018, Australia can awake from its enchanted slumber for the fun-for-all-the-family panto adventure Sleeping Beauty – A Knight Avenger’s Tale. This production will burst into Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre from June 29 to July 8, and then land in Sydney’s majestic State Theatre from July 13 to 22.

By a single prick of her finger on her 18th birthday, the maleficent Fairy Carabosse curses Princess Aurora to 100 years’ slumber. Doomed by fate, only a Prince’s sweet kiss can break the spell and awaken the sleeping beauty. Can Princess Aurora’s hilarious best friend Silly Billy and faithful Nanny Tickle help save the day? And who will outwit the evil Carabosse and foil her wicked plans?

This production promises to feature “dazzling costumes, stunning sets, magic, special effects, hilarious comedy and thrilling musical numbers”.

As Australia’s biggest family musical pantomime producer, Bonnie Lythgoe Productions seeks to deliver another hit. It’s acquired a reputation after the success of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell this year, Cinderella in 2016, Aladdin and His Wondrous Lamp in 2015 and the Snow White Winter Family Musical in 2014. Lythgoe has been staging pantos in the USA and UK for a number of years. She’s well known for her involvement in television shows American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, and recently, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
