Sylvie Guillem farewells Australia in August

Sylvie Guillem Final World TourLate last year, world-renowned French ballet dancer Sylvie Guillem announced that she would retire from dancing at the end of 2015. Now it has been announced that she will present her final performance in Australia in August.

 

Sylvie Guillem’s fourth and final season at Sydney Opera House will be the last opportunity Australian audiences will have to witness “one of the greatest ballerinas of our generation.”

 

Guillem will say farewell to the stage with an evening that includes two new works. The first, techne, is a solo accompanied by live musicians and choreographed by Sacred Monsters creator Akram Khan. The second is a duet with Italian dancer Emanuela Montanari from La Scala, entitled Here & After by choreographer Russell Maliphant (creator of the award-winning PUSH).

 

Sylvie Guillem's Life in Progress Final World TourThe evening will also include Bye, a solo created by Mats Ek for Guillem, and William Forsythe’s Duo, performed by Brigel Gjoka and Riley Watts.
