VDF Gala Showcase bound to amaze

Victorian Dance Festival 2017Who’s officially counting down till the Victorian Dance Festival? We are! Set for March 17-19 at Melbourne Town Hall, this dance event welcomes students, teachers, parents and anyone who loves dance!

One event that is surely going to be a highlight of the festival is the Gala Showcase on Saturday, March 18. Over 30 performances will be presented from dance studios, companies and various industry professionals. From 8-10 pm, the Melbourne Town Hall will come alive with dancers from all over Australia. A noncompetitive event, they’ll come together to showcase their shared love for dance.

Back in October, Melbourne-based commercial dance crew Tenacity was the first official company to be announced for the performance lineup. Under the artistic direction of Donnie Dimase, Tenacity features dancers from Australia and New Zealand. This will be the crew’s fourth year in a row to perform.

Another stellar group that will perform is Jason Coleman’s Ministry Of Dance. Coleman wrote, “Welcome to yet another year at the Victorian Dance Festival! I am so thankful to be here once again. I just love the way the festival allows us to immerse in, and reflect upon this incredible world of dance. This world we constantly create and nurture, year in, year out.”

Quite excitingly, award-winning Canadian dancer Tate McRae will also be dancing at the Gala Showcase – as her first official performance in Australia! Known for recently starring in So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation in the U.S., McRae told Dance Informa, “I have never been to Australia, and I am so excited!”
