WAAPA Audition Tour to begin soon

Western Australian Academy of Performing ArtsThe Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) offers three Undergraduate Courses for dancers: the three-year Bachelor of Arts (Dance), the one-year Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance), and the secondary one-year Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance).

 

The prestigious academy also offers Postgraduate Courses, including the two-year Master of Arts (Creative Arts), the three-year Doctor of Philosophy (Performing Arts) and the Honours option, LINK Dance Company.

 

Applications for 2016 courses are now being accepted. They close in less than four weeks on September 30!

 

For those applying, they should plan on attending an audition, as admission is based on this and an interview. The Undergraduate Audition Tour begins in Melbourne on Monday, September 21 and then heads to Adelaide on September 22, Canberra on September 23, Brisbane on September 24 and Sydney on September 29 before concluding in Perth on October 22 and 23. Postgraduate and LINK Dance Company auditions will be held in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne in October/November.

 

If accepted, dancers can look forward to training with Nanette Hassall (dance coordinator and senior lecturer), Andries Weidemann (dance coordinator and classical instructor), Danielle Hunt (lecturer and classical instructor), Justin Rutzou (dance coordinator and contemporary dance instructor), Michael Whaites (lecturer and artistic director of LINK Dance Company) and Sue Peacock (lecturer and contemporary dance) – not to mention the frequently visiting choreographers and guest teachers!
