Course Details

The Bachelor of Dance Course (and nested Associate Degree) has a strong focus on and commitment to excellence in the practice of dance. The goal is to develop highly skilled, disciplined, knowledgeable, and versatile dance artists, in an atmosphere which supports and encourages them, as they strive to reach their technical, creative, and scholarly excellence.

The AMPA B.Dance is the only performance-oriented course in NSW that provides an undergraduate qualification (AQF Level 7), compared to Cert IV and Diploma courses. This means that AMPA students have a distinct advantage upon graduating, including options to choose broader career paths or move directly onto postgraduate study. AMPA BDance students use artistic concepts and critical thinking in order to produce dance compositions, projects and collaborative works. Students train daily in a variety of dance techniques under the guidance of international dance experts and participate in a variety of theoretical classes, focusing on subjects such as: production, dance history, the human body, performance psychology, arts management and more.

AMPA offers Fee-Help for domestic students and credit for Dip. & Adv Dip. graduates interested in upgrading their qualification.

“AMPA helped me with kickstarting my dance career by supplementing my previous dance training, providing opportunities to network with current industry professionals, enabling me to experience the different facets and sectors within the entertainment industry, and allowing me to discover who I am as an artist. The course provided a solid framework to becoming a mindful and well-informed dance practitioner, and allowed me to graduate with the confidence to pursue a career in a dynamic and ever-changing industry” - Julian Chan
