QUEENSLAND BALLET ACADEMY BACK
Queensland Ballet is passionate about developing the artists of the future. The Company’s aim is to provide a clear career pathway through intensive training and to produce young ballet dancers whose talents and abilities are internationally sought-after.
Queensland Ballet Academy’s Training Programs are supervised by Artistic Director Li Cunxin and Director of Training Christian Tátchev. Students from age 11 upwards can enjoy the benefits of training at the home of this world-class ballet company through the Jette Parker Young Artist, Pre-Professional Program, Senior and Junior Programs.
The developing talents of our young dancers are showcased in standalone performances and other events, as well as within Company productions when possible.
The Pre-Professional Program is a full-time, final training year that aims to give students the preparation they require before joining a professional company. Students undertake intensive daily training to develop their skills to the highest artistic and technical standards. Students graduating from the Pre-Professional Program will be encouraged to audition for professional ballet and contemporary dance companies.
Queensland Ballet Academy’s Senior Program is a three-year training course for advanced students. This world class training program, in partnership with Kelvin Grove State College, provides talented students the opportunity to pursue intensive ballet training while completing face-to-face senior academic studies in Years 10 to 12. Students who successfully complete the Senior Program graduate with a Queensland Certificate of Education and an OP or tertiary entrance ranking.
Pre-Professional Program classes include classical ballet, male technique, pointe, pas de deux, repertoire, contemporary dance, male fitness, body conditioning, yoga and Pilates.
Senior Program classes for Year 11 and 12 students include classical ballet, male technique, pointe, pas de deux, repertoire, classical character dance, contemporary dance, male fitness, body conditioning and Pilates.
